Cardinal Gin Berry Sour Recipe
Ingredients:
- 30 ml mixed berry gin (use your preferred brand)
- 30 ml fresh lemon juice
- 15 ml strawberry simple syrup (recipe below)
- 1 dash of plum bitters
- 30 ml aquafaba (vegan option) or 1 egg white
- Ice
- Garnish: Edible flowers, mint, or a lemon twist
Strawberry Simple Syrup Recipe:
- In a saucepan, combine 1 cup of water, 1 cup of sugar, and 1 cup of fresh strawberries (sliced).
- Bring to a simmer, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove from heat and let it cool. Strain out the strawberry solids.
Instructions:
- Add the ingredients: In a cocktail shaker, combine the mixed berry gin, lemon juice, strawberry simple syrup, plum bitters and aquafaba (or egg white).
- Shake it up: Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 30 seconds.
- Double strain: Strain the cocktail into a glass, discarding the ice.
- Shake again: Return the cocktail to the shaker and give it another good shake.
- Serve: Strain the frothy cocktail into a chilled cocktail glass. You might need to scoop out some of the foam with a spoon.
- Garnish: Add edible flowers, mint, or a lemon twist for an elegant touch.
